Fish Bum is a zine started in the fall of 2010. It focuses on fishing in urban environments and other unusual areas where fishing exists, but is often overlooked in the hustle of daily life in the city. Drawing influences from a quote in issue 4 of SCAM zine by Erick Lyle ("the bums of the city always know where the best fishing spots are") and the common sentiments heard around New York City regarding their own waterways ("You don't eat the fish out of there, do you?" is probably the most prevalent), Fish Bum is an attempt to readjust our thinking in terms of using the resources in front of us and finding the secret and forgotten parts of the city. Also, the threat of a few misdemeanors can't help but make everything a little more exciting.
